Shred The Gnar is owned and operated by Women's World Champion and Liquid Force team rider Kara Austin.Kara has been wakeboarding her whole life, has been riding professionally for over 20 years, and has been coaching for over 23 years.
Kara grew up cutting the waters of Lake Gaston, North Carolina, and coached there for 9 years with Adam Fields.
She saw a great opportunity to spread the sport of wakeboarding to the coastal region of NC and decided to open her first Shred the Gnar Wake School in Wilmington, NC in 2012.
One of Kara’s biggest strengths is her ability to teach all ages and riding levels, concentrating on helping riders understand techniques in the boat in a way that will make execution on the water easier.
“It’s great to take a whole family out. I’ve had kids as young as three get up behind the boat and learn tricks, and it’s awesome to see parents learn with their children.”
She has a great passion for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, and loves spreading the Shred to everyone!
