Shred the Gnar offers a variety of watersport activities including wakeboarding, wakesurfing, foiling, tubing, or just cruising the Intracoastal Waterway or one of many lakes located in North Carolina and South Carolina, in one of our luxury boats. Whether it’s your first time getting up or you are trying to master inverts and spins, we can help you learn the SAFE and FUN way to accomplish your goals! We are now offering Boat Charters, so let our USCG Captains tour you around the intracoastal waterway around Wrightsville Beach or Figure 8 Island OR on Lake Keowee in our New Nautique with an awesome JL Audio stereo.

We welcome all ages and offer hourly charters/lessons or check out our Kids Camp programs. 4 Nautique boats including 2023 Super Air Nautique G23, 2023 G21, 2021 G23, 2018 G21) or we can come to you and coach from your boat!

We can also come to you on your favorite stretch of water within North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina including Falls Lake, Harris Lake, Jordan Lake, Lake Gaston, White Lake, Lake Murray, Lake Keowee and more. Hire a coach to come spend the weekend at your lake house.

About

KARA AUSTIN

Shred The Gnar is owned and operated by Women's World Champion and Liquid Force team rider Kara Austin.

Kara has been wakeboarding her whole life, has been riding professionally for over 20 years, and has been coaching for over 23 years.

Kara grew up cutting the waters of Lake Gaston, North Carolina, and coached there for 9 years with Adam Fields.

She saw a great opportunity to spread the sport of wakeboarding to the coastal region of NC and decided to open her first Shred the Gnar Wake School in Wilmington, NC in 2012.

One of Kara’s biggest strengths is her ability to teach all ages and riding levels, concentrating on helping riders understand techniques in the boat in a way that will make execution on the water easier.

“It’s great to take a whole family out. I’ve had kids as young as three get up behind the boat and learn tricks, and it’s awesome to see parents learn with their children.”

She has a great passion for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, and loves spreading the Shred to everyone!

Meet Captain Carson Cline

Carson grew up shredding the waters of Tennessee on Old Hickory Lake. He is currently a student at UNCW studying economics. Carson has a passion for watersports and loves spreading the shred to others. Always upbeat and positive, there are no bad days on the boat with Carson. "Coaching at Shred The Gnar Wake School has been the best thing to come from moving to North Carolina. My favorite part is when new riders are eager to improve and share the love for wakeboarding." Make sure you ask to see his famous dance moves !

Meet Captain Alec Sczepanski

Alec grew up shredding the waters of Falls Lake in Raleigh. He just graduated with a degree in communications from UNCW and works full time with Shred The Gnar Wake School. Alec is great at coaching all ages and levels and especially loves working with the kids during camp. He makes for a great time on the water! "Working for Shred The Gnar has given me a different passion for wake boarding. It is very rewarding watching the sport grow in the coastal region and teaching people about what I love every day."
